My Story
Not long ago, I was a special education teacher & school administrator. While working to improve students' lives provided me with a great deal of personal and professional satisfaction, I found I needed help to better manage my time, daily tasks, and personal life.
When working as a principal in a large corporation with schools all over the country, I found little time to enjoy myself as well as my pets. Further, I felt my pets needed more time and attention, and definitely more potty breaks! With the demands of my career, the small amount of time I had at home was spent sleeping, cleaning, picking up dog poo in the yard, trying to manage my mail, and attempting to run the many errands I had no time to run (especially during business hours). Necessary travel for my job created increased stress as I had 4 dogs, 1 cat, and one of my German Shepherds was over 14 years old and had many health issues.
These limits on time caused my personal relationships to suffer and I needed a way to make more quality time in my life. So, I began searching for ways to simplify my life.
I needed to find trustworthy pet service providers to meet my pets special needs in my home while I was away. My dogs needed daily potty breaks. My home needed cleaned and so did my yard! I never had groceries let alone home cooked meals! I needed some basic office tasks completed to support my home office and my home definitely needed organization. I needed people to go through my mail! During this time, a close family member became terminally ill and then I needed someone to perform all the tasks I mentioned above not just for me, but for my family member too!
Sound familiar? Overwhelming, right? So I hired people to do all of these things and then some.
The only problem was I had 5 different service providers through 5 different organizations providing these services. I needed a personal assistant to manage my personal life!
And here the idea for A Simpler Life was born.
What if one organization could provide the many home, pet, and personal services I needed to have quality time in my life?
And better yet, what if I could provide these services for others? After all, I was successful at all these tasks - I just never had the time to do them. I knew first hand how much stress was alleviated by having some of the above tasks performed by trustworthy, reliable people.
So, I started A Simpler Life. I now offer the very services I was seeking from others.
